Focused on ‘thinking differently’, flooring manufacturer Shaw Industries set out to create a carpet with an exposed backing and no face yarns. While the missing yarns allow for a freer design, the manufacturer needed to develop a special carpet backing.
After several successful collaborations in the past, the Shaw Industries team asked us to develop a ‘new generation’ Colback primary carpet backing that superseded other products on the market.
After devising new specifications, we created a custom backing that was stain- and abrasion-resistant, and offered maximum latex bleed-through and stitch holding – in a range of colours.
A division of Shaw Industries, Patcraft used the backing to launch its new Deconstructed product, which saves up to 40% of the cost of face yarns compared to other products. The daring design also earned Patcraft a NeoCon design award.
